Uutiset - NewsGreat Autumn Break!23.10.2016 October marks the beginning of the "kaamos" or the polar night, my favorite season! The daylight time gets shorter and the weather cools down. The nature is preparing itself for the winter rest. I enjoy walking in the woods together with my dogs and walked we have! This week has been the autumn break and I have taken my dogs out several times - as I am writing this, all three are sleeping heavily - feet pointing to the ceiling and a steady snuffle is all that can be heard in the house! Halti has had plenty of work, she´s been out three times this week. Next time it´ll be Luppo who gets to wear the GPS-collar - I am anxious to know how many km he actually runs, when we go out hunting. I also traveled to Berlin for a short trip. Berlin was wonderful! I have always enjoyed visiting Germany, but never been to Berlin before. It was great! Clean, organized and tasty! Naturally I did go and see the Checkpoint Charlie and the chilling Holocaust Memorial, as a reminder of the really fucked up days in Europe. As a highlight of my trip I went to a classical concert by the Berliner Philharmoniker performing Tschaikovsky and Brahms - absolutely beautiful! Totally recommend it, but you have to make the ticket booking well in advance! As always, the food was great - starting from the wonderful coffee shops for breakfast (they beat the hotel brekfast 10-fold, and are cheaper, too). I also visited my one and only chain restaurant choice: The Blockhaus! Following their lead, the first thing I cooked when I got back home were beans with a little bit of olive oil and garlic :) I am not much of a shopper, but must say - the Kadewe - was impressing. I particularly enjoyed the F&B-department :) Maybe I should´ve taken a loan to buy this wonderful teddybear to Luppo..? And no, there is no comma between the numbers.. I was also interviewed this week, the article will appear sometime next year in a Finnish magazine, I am excited to see the results - a lot of pics were taken. It was interesting to be out with the reporters, who were not hunters, but had an open mind. I can only hope, I managed to reflect positive thoughts about hunting. On Saturday I took some exchange students to Kokkovuori Shotgun Shooting Centre and what a cool day we had, also literally speaking. Clay pigeon shooting is so much fun and I was very happy to see other people on the shooting grounds, too. It is summer sports, but fun in the cooler weather, too. Also I am definately going to participate at least a couple of national trap competitions - or "Ham Champs" as different Shooting grounds organise them towards the end of the year. Shall we meet at Orimattila on Nov 12? |
