Uutiset - NewsPrize meat on the table :)29.04.2018 I made at least a decent (no, in fact this is really good) elk meat sauce and now I am enjoying it with pasta and decent, organic Sangiovese red wine! And I feel like I have earned it. Not only, because the meat in fact is a third prize I won at a shooting competition in Hyvinkää (million thanks to the guy who bagged it, you knew what you were doing!!), but also because - one hell of a semester at work it has been. And now - perhaps prematurely - I see some light at the end of the tunnel. I am finished with my last study module and all that I have left is grading - not to be underestimated, though - that is a lot of work, too.
But I get to determine my own schedule and give my feedback some thought; what was I looking for, why and how did the student reach those goals - and ofcourse - were they the goals that needed to be set in order to reach a new level of knowledge? Plenty of interesting self reflectory moments in store for me :)
Back to the meat. It goes really well with some carrots and spices (a bit of Koskenlaskija, it is to die for!!) and then some pepper and salt - which by the way is from Brittany, France - really nice soft flavour! I am sad to say, I do not have any fresh herbs to throw in - my bad, I forgot!! - everything is available as dried version!
Yesterday was another shooting day - I was tired to start with and had not shot one single shot since last Sunday - and all in all, my practise rounds for this season are about 2... But the atmosphere in these competitions has been better than ever - so I wanted to go! And
I´m glad I did. Lots of great people, good times - even if less than mediocre shooting on my behalf, but at least all three rounds I shot more than 10/25 :) My final result was 55 %. I would´ve downded a duck or two :) Simon, the new kid - has settled in nicely. He is a bundle of legs, energy and ideas - but in a very sweet fashion. I was confirmed our duck season arrangements, so plenty for him to look forward to. Before August, we have a lot of training to do - but the elements for sure are there already!
