Uutiset - NewsSeurassa aina parempaa // Better with good people21.08.2020 Sinänsä aloituspäivä - siis 20.8. - ei ole mikään pakkomielle, mutta hyvä on, jos pääsee! Tänä vuonna meinasi mennä vaikeaksi, työt vaativat veronsa poikkeusoloissa ja pitempi reissu ei nyt ollut mahdollista. Mutta lähelläkin voi onnistua! Niinpä metsästysseuran porukalla olimme aloittamassa vesilintukautta - ja ihan loistoretkihän siitä syntyi. Meillä oli yhdistelmä kyyhky- ja sorsajahtia, joten ne on taas kerran muita reissuja, joilta palataan virkistyneinä ja levänneinä... Sama muuten koskee myös koiria - ei tartte paljon ohjelmaa keksiä ainakaan vielä tänään.
Aloitettiin kyyhkyllä, oltiin viiden pintaan hernepellon reunoilla ja sieltä löytyikin pian ne "tähystyspuut", jonne tiedustelijoita saapui ennen muiden tuloa. Puskaa ja compakkia on kannattanut ampua, huonoistakin asennoista lähtee ja tulostakin saatiin. Edelleen haasteena on arvioida korkeus ja etäisyys, ja kuten tiedetään, tilanteet tulevat nopeasti. Mutta tässä porukassa on hyvä metsästää - kaikkien päällimmäinen ajatus on turvallisuus; meidän, koirien ja mahdollisten sivullisten. Kaikki ampuvat välillä ohi, mutta pudotukset haetaan voimia säästämättä. Koiria meillä olikin yhteensä 6.
Labradori on yli-innokas, eikä meinaa malttaa. Se myös menee enemmän tunteella, kuin taidolla - ja tämähän on vain ja ainoastaan oma vikani, liian vähän laadukasta treeniä. Seisoja on rauhoittunut kovasti, en tiedä kuinka paljon siitä voi laittaa tyräleikkauksen (ja samalla pallien poiston) piikkiin, ja kuinka paljon iän tuoman rauhoittumisen kontolle - mutta se on pääsääntöisesti mainio passikoira. Korvaton toki sekin tarvittaessa.. Labradorin huippuhetket olivat hukkaan joutuneen linnun löytyminen ja kyyhkynouto, jonka se meinasi energiapuuskassaan ryssiä kokonaan. Seisoja löysi kyyhkyn erittäin vaikeasta maastosta ja toi sen hienosti käteen ja oli pääsääntöisesti erittäin rauhallinen passissa. Samaa ei voi sanoa noutajasta, joskin paransi loppua kohti sekin.
Minulla oli Benelli 828USport mukana, ja se todella on sellainen ase, joka toimii minulle radalla ja metsällä. Kyyhkyllä minulla oli yläpiipussa täyssuppea holkki ja alhaalla puolikas. Sorsalle vaihdoin puolikkaan ylös ja varttisen alas - käyttämäni teräspanos tuntui sopivan. Kyyhkylle tuo "sorsavarustus" ei riitä, siksipä on kätevää, kun holkit voi vaihtaa itse ilman sen kummempia työkaluja.
Keskusteltiin myös mahdollisesta lyijykiellosta - kokemus antaa taas aihetta pohtia asiaa, kun sitä täyssuppeaakin tarvitaan - silloin korvaavan panoksen; esim.vismutin osalta rajaavaksi tekijäksi nousee hinta. Teräshaulilaatikko esim. Bornaghi Natural 3,3 mm hauleilla ja 32 gramman latauksella € 12 euroa aski (hinta: Eräloppi). Volframi (myös nimellä tungsten) maksaa sitten 94 euroa aski (hinta: Ruoto). Terästä taas ei täyssuppean läpi kannata ampua, eivätkä "high performance" lataukset korkean paineensa takia käy kaikkiin haulikoihin. Ja Ranskan liljan pitäisi löytyä aseesta, Benelli 828U Sportissa se lilja on, lisäksi 76 mm pesä antaa perusratapanosta paremman valikoiman erilaisia patruunoita. Palaan näihin vielä! Vesilintukausikin on siis avattu - ja vuoden paras aika alkanut!
The best time of the year is here. I have never had such a great start to the season, and I feel the best is yet to come. Because of these uncertain, wierd times my work situation would not allow me to go away for a longer time, as I have usually done for the opening of the waterfowling season. But together with a few of my club mates we organized a short get-away and had the opportunity to hunt both pigeons as well as mallards. 5 of us and 6 dogs - and a last minute training session at the shooting club, a couple of rounds of compac and we were ready to go. Pigeon venue was a gamefield and it was easy to spot the tall trees that attracted the scouts. I think we all were anxious to get the hunting going, so the first shpts perhaps a bit too hopeful (smiley face!!), but what did not even need to be discussed was safety. At all times I felt everyone, dogs included were safe and in happy spirits. We got a few hits, me included - and my labrador was sent to work. He still has more legs than concentration, but that is to a large part my fault - too little quality training. The pointer has matured - or perhaps it´s the surgery he had - he´s very relaxed, and will find the bird, even if at times too, has no ears.. Again, who´s fault is that :) It´s tradition that the law allows waterfolwong season to start at noon, so we changed venues and had a nice wetlands area at our disposal. We knew, they´d probably be a lot of birds there, so we sent a dog to flush them - this way not all birds would take off immediately. We had no idea, that there must have been at least a hundread birds, so we got busy!! I chose my mallard, took a shot and saw it fall. The banks were growing long grass, it was tricky to find them - and my lab managed to find this bird only later that day. I did not see it land, I should have had my dogs closer to me, so they could have marked the downing. Lesson learned. It was a great start, we had about 10 mallards and about the same amount of pigeons. Then we had a break and enjoyed some local culinary, and then got ready to go back. First the pigeons, and there were more birds about, and especially my pointer did a great job. The evening rush hour for the mallards never happened, so this time we waited in vain. At the end of the day, happy but tired, meat to be celebrated with a nice glass of wine, memories to last a long time. This is why I hunt - and I cannot wait to go again! Expect to read my story about cartridge patterns sometime in the near future - it´s steel time, as lead is not allowed in waterfowling, but what to shoot when the price range is from less than 10 euros a box to more than 100 euros a box. Not all guns can shoot high performance steel shots, can yours? I´m safe with my Benelli 828U Sport, which is now in desperate need of cleaning, it can get rough at times :) |
