Avoiding people - Ihmisiä karussa :)

COVID-19 took us all by surprise. Or hands up - who the hell would have dreamed this in their worst nightmares, say back in January?! And yet, here we are. The Finnish Government has decided to isolate the province of Uusimaa and is urging the folks residing in that area to come home, if they´ve escaped to their summer houses or elsewhere. At the time I´m writing this, Finland has a total of 5 deaths and the number of infected is no longer accurate as not everyone with symptoms will be tested. Some are mad about this, but I really don´t see the point in testing everyone - there´s no cure to COVID, so as long as you can stay home, why waste resources? Let´s keep contacts to minimum, but try and take care of ourselves! 

I´m doing fine, and my dogs absolutely love this. No being alone :) We are no longer allowed to even visit our campus without a specific permit, so we might as well just adapt and do the  best we can. I consider being quite fortunate, we can continue teaching online, and there´s really not that much we have to skip because of the current status of things. However, giving lessons online is absolutely not the same as face-to-face sessions. A lot less interaction and communication - and for sure the easy way out for students, if you decide not to participate.. And for the teacher, too - if he/she so chooses.

But the quality of my leisure time that is: my shooting, suffers, that´s for sure. My closest shooting range is open, but I suppose clayshooting will not commence any time soon.. It would be a great time to do some maintenance, and in fact, I did find some useful material for cleaning my rifle, nothing much I can do about my riflescope. Not that it needs anything done - I am still superhappy about my choice of riflescope, but I did have an important update on it. I had the lens covers assembled, this way I don´t have to worry about the twigs, rocks and the snow. I chose the original #Swarovski covers - no guessing, if they would fit or not.

I also got my cleaning kit out and did some cleaning. I am still gathering my courage to actually dissemble the rifle. I was told I would need some tools, the Merkel guy makes it seem so easy, so I´ll give it a try one day (and call my local gunsmith shortly therafter, I suppose :) ...

By-the-way, must mention. An FB-friend of mine was listening to Joe Bonamassa, a great blues rock guitarist, I haven´t listened to in months - and now I have rediscovered him. Absolutely great stuff!

This happens to be my lifestyle, what can I say :)

Tiedä nyt sitten, pitäisikö tässä kirjoittaa suomeksi ainakaan sen takia, ettetkö Sinä lukisi lontootakin ihan sujuvasti. Mutta ehkä juuri sen takia, että suomi on äidinkieleni, fantastinen kieli, jota on syytäkin angloismin vallatessa alaa pitää yllä. Ja toiseksi, en edes ajatellut kääntää sanasta sanaan.

Ollaan siis koronan hallitsemassa valtakunnassa. Uuttamaata ollaan sulkemassa ja täytyy sanoa, että nyt jos koskaan omat - varsin vaatimattomat, mutta silti! - valtio-opin opiskeluni tulevat nyt tarpeeseen. Ymmärrän prosesseja, ja vaikka niillä on weberiläiset paskapuolensa - hidas, mutta kankea - nekin osaltaan suojaavat sitä, ettei tätä kansaa kuka tahansa ota edes poikkeustilanteessa haltuunsa ihan  miten vaan. Siksikin on hienoa, että hallitus kohtaa arviointia, arvostelua - toki kaikki ymmärtävät senkin, että niin tai näin, ikinä me kaikki emme ole tyytyväisiä. Joutuvatpahan aidosti paneutumaan, selvittämään ennen isojen ja pienempienkin päätösten tekoa! Pidetään näinäkin aikoina itsestämme huolta, ja ennenmuuta ei typeryyksiä. EI yhtään kotihälytystä, aloitetaanko siitä?

No, etäopetus on moodi ilmeisesti koko jäljellä olevan lukuvuoden, ja mikäs siinä - me olemme harjoitelleet tätä jo useamman vuoden ja homma sujuu, vaikka tietysti vuorovaikutus jää huomattavan vähälle. Kannustin minä siihen tai en.

Yhtä kaikki, ammunta on jäämässä vähemmälle, kisoja peruutettu ja iso osa ampumaradoistakin kiinni. On aikaa paneutua asehuoltoon. Tässä vaiheessa kerään vielä rohkeutta purkaa Merkel osiin - löysin siihen hyvän ohjevideon Frankonian sivuilta. Jonakin iltana - Joe Bonamassan huutaessa taustalla - minä teen sen. Ja varmaankin - oman kädentaitojen tason tunnustaen - soitan ammattilaiselle seuraavaksi.

Swarovskin pelastaa se, ettei sille omin käsin edes oikein voi tehdä mitään. Se vaan pelaa. Sen verran olen siihenkin paneutunut, että hommasin siihen linssinsuojat, jotka on kiinteästi asennettu. Usein on niin, että passipaikkaan saa mennä kaikenmaailman pusikkojen läpi kiväärin roikkuessa olalla ja irtosuojien kohtalo on liian usein jäädä sinne, missä ne otettiin pois.
