Kisajärjestelyjä // Organizing a trap competition!!

Haulikkohelmet järjestää yhteistyössä CHEDDITE -patruunoiden, Ala-Hämeen Ampujien ja Kiikalan Haulikkoampujien kanssa 1-trap-kisat Lopen ampumaurheilukeskuksessa 3.syyskuuta. Ilmoittautuminen on auki ja tavoitteena on saada noin 40 trap-ampujaa Lopelle, joka on paremmin tunnettu skeettareistaan, mutta siellähän on KOLME trap-rataa, myös olympiatrap on taas käytettävissä!

Kisaan kannattaa osallistua paitsi siksi, että nyt on yksi virallinen kisa lisää muutoin ohuessa kisakalenterissa, mutta ennen kaikkea koska hyvällä meiningillä on mahdollisuus kokoontua yhteen ja tarkastaa Lopen meininki. Haulikkoratojen lisäksi tapahtuu myös kivääripuolella, kun tekeillä ovat 300 ja 1000 metrin radat. Parin seuraavan vuoden sisällä ehkä myös sportingavaus?

Ja sitten ehdin käymään viranomaisen roolissakin, kun olin vastaanottamassa ampumakoetta. Heti opin, että ampumakoe-toiminne täytyy (siis olisi täytynyt..) käydä laittamassa pöytäkoneversiolla päälle.. Pöytäkirjaa pidin ja viidesta yrittäjästä yhden koe ei mennyt läpi. Leppoisa tunnelma, näitä voi hyvin tehdä lisää.

** Peijaisetkin vietettiin rennossa tunnelmassa; mikäs oli vietellessä. Erinomainen hirvikeitto ja kakkua jälkkäriksi. Vietiin peijaiset pitopalveluravintolaan, päästiin vähemmällä ja tilaa oli varmasti kaikille - varsin onnistunut ilta. Jahtikausi voi alkaa.

Kyyhkyllä en ole käynyt ja taitaa sorsakin jäädä väliin - sorsia ei näy, ei kuulu, joten saavat tällä erää olla. Kyyhkyjen osalta seuraan tilannetta, mutta edessä on Saksan ja pohjoisen reissua, joten pääpaino niissä!

The hunting year is officially open - we traditionally begin w/ pigeons (Columba palumbus) on the 10th of August. I haven´t yet, I´m back to work and there seems to be a ton of errands to run.. hunting club issues, work stuff and organizing a shooting competition. My home range has a reputation for being a skeet shooting range, when in fact it has a versatile range of opportunities for trap shooters, hunters (we´ve got compaq, too), not forgetting rifles (both moving and standing targets)  and pistol shooters. In fact, the Finnish Brutality is coming up in a few weeks - but my interest is especially on our first ever official trap shooting competition in September. And as "we" I mean our ladies´ shooting club "Shotgun pearls" (or Haulikkohelmet in Finnish). We have teamed up with two other clubs to make this happen and we have a number of sponsors, we use for our member events, too. So yes, this IS a competition where you can win a gift voucher for loungerie or hair saloon as well as a Jaki silencer and Cheddite cartridges.. There´s been quite a lot of interest, so
I´m looking forward to a fun but busy day at the range, come Sep 3.

I started my career as a shooting test official. As we are in Finland, there is an app on which the test is run, and naturally I had not activated the status beforehand so everything had to be handwritten. I turned the damn feature on as soon as I got home.. So next time, I´ll just scan the hunting licenses. It was a nice day, but just 5 participants. You can choose, if you´d like to shoot the license for moose/deer or bear (which includes the previous). The following is by the Finnish Wildlife Agency: "The target pattern used in the Roe Deer and Moose and Deer Shooting tests has a hit area 23 centimetres in diameter while in the Bear Shooting test the target pattern’s hit area is 17 centimetres in diameter. The test requires four shots to be fired at a non-moving target only from either a standing, sitting or kneeling position (shooter is free to choose his position) from a distance of 75 metres. The time allowed to make these four shots is 90 seconds starting from the first shot. Supports are allowed as long as the weapon is not mechanically fastened to its support."

So if you have a rifle and a scope in sync, this should be no biggie - but each year we have folks who use this test as an opportunity to see, if they need to adjust their rifle scope. It´s 20 euros/try. We had just 5 participants, one of them failed - he had all his hits above the target.

** Peijaiset or a feast to celebrate the hunting success is a tradition most hunting clubs have annually; landowners, hunting officials, neighbouring clubs and ofcourse members will be invited to have a nice dinner. And it was a nice evening - some 60+ guests turned up and  I even had a frock and some makeup on!! We had a lovely moose soup for dinner.

My next goal is to have everything ready for the end of the month; work stuff, the competition and then I´m first off to Germany and then upland hunting here in Finland. Before that I get open my hoofed season, as we head out on Sep 1st. Good times!!
