Itsepäinen, suurisydäminen, vahtii mitä vaan, suorittaa joko hienosti tai ei ollenkaan. Sehän on Hilla, ensimmäinen noutajani, jonka kanssa on haettu myös jokunen sorsa, fasaanikin. Metsällä ilman muita häiriöitä Hilla onkin parhaimmillaan, jos kohta vuonna 2009 yllätti iloisesti myös B-kokeissa.

08.02.2010 Hillan tarina sai yllättävän ja surullisen lopun, kun jouduin viemään sen viimeiselle matkalleen ihmiseen kohdistuneen varoittamattoman ja aggressiivisen käytöksen takia. Olen niin pahoillani koko rodunkin puolesta, chesapeakelahdennoutaja on pohjimmiltaan äärimmäisyyksiin jaksava työkoira, omilleen 100% uskollinen ja rakastava - mutta samalla tulee myös voimakas vahtimisvietti, joka nyt valitettavasti meni liiallisuuksiin ja jouduin tekemään koiranomistajan raskaan velvollisuuden.

 
Stubborn but with a big heart, will guard anything and may perform well, or not at all. Well, that´s my Hilla - the first retriever who has been my loyal companion in the real hunts, too; mallards, pheasants... That´s what she is best at, just her and me by a lake, however last year (2009) she has surprised me (and a lot of others, too) even in B-hunt tests. 

Feb 8, 2010 Hilla´s story got a very sad end as I had to take her to her last journey due to her aggressive behaviour towards a person. I am so sorry for the entire breed, chesapeake bay retriever is an extremely durable working dog, 100% loyal and loving to his/her own people - but also with a strong sense of guarding. Unfortunately this time it went overboard and I had a heavy heart to do the right thing as a dog owner.
