Nyt täällä // New arrival: BENELLI LUPO

Minulla oli tilaisuus koeampua Benelli Lupo, joka on samaan tapaan itse räätälöitävissä ampujalleen, kuin Benelli 828U -haulikot; siis perän pudotus ja sivuvääryys. Kokeiltavana kivääri oli kahdessa suositussa kaliiperissa; .308Win ja .30-06, ensinmainittu äänenvaimentimella. 

Kivääri on tyylikäs, se on sanottava ensin - se on sulavalinjainen, ei mitään turhaa, mutta kaikki oleellinen. Piiput ja lukko on BE.ST-käsitellyt, tehdas takaa  niille 25 vuoden takuun!! Lipas on erityisen toimiva, panosten lataaminen - 5 kpl - on sujuvaa ja syöttö häiriötöntä. Ase on tasapainoinen, painaa 3180 grammaa ja mukanatulevalla korkeammalla poskipakalla silmän saa kiikarilinjalle ilman lisäosia. Laukaus on mainio, se ei ole liian herkkä, mutta mahdollistaa kohteen seuraamisen ja luontevan pitkän puristuksen. Ase on moitteeton ja eleetön käsitellä - ja minähän en ole tottunut pulttilukkoiseen, mutta jouhevasti piippuun sukeltaa uusi panos, kun avaa ja sulkee lukon. 

Jos vertaan omaani, ja miksipä en vertaisi, niin Benelli Lupon eduksi lasken:

• erinomainen käsiteltävyys - suoralukkoisena omani tarvitsee ronskimpia otteita, että lyhyellä vedolla (välityssuhde 2:1) saa tyhjän hylsyn ulos ja tuoreen piippuun
• Lupon kaksirivinen lipas on todella näppärä ladata ja on matalampi, kuin samankokoinen lipas omassani
• olen asennuttanut omaani poskipakan, Lupossa korkea poskipakka kuuluu pakettiin
• rekyylinvaimennusjärjestelmä, tosin sille lienee sijansa vasta vähän järeämmissä kaliipereissa; esim. .300 Win Mag, joka on myös saatavilla 
• vaimennin on minulle itsestäänselvyys - Lupossa kierre on valmiina, omassani ei ollut
• hinta!! Lupon ovh on € 1.695 sisältäen 5-patruunan lippaan. Omani ei ole ihan vertailukelpoinen..

Yhtä kaikki ampumaratakausi on ovella, oma mielenkiintoni kivääripuolella on ehdottomasti liikuvan hirven ampuminen ja haulikkopuolella compac - molemmat palvelevat metsästystä. Lopella pitäisi olla metsästysammunnan SM-kisat, ja sitä silmälläpitäen olen nyt kurssittanut itseäni sekä luoti- että haulipuolen tuomaritehtäviin, enää tarvitaan koe ja sen läpäiseminen..

Guns are fascinating technical instruments. They are designed to last decades, function - at best - hundreads of thousands of times without problems, for some they look good (I´m included in this group!), enable a great hobby/sports and accurate hunting. There is an endless list of calibers, weapons, styles to choose from. As just an ordinary hobby shooter/hunter my gun cabinet has a limited content, but luckily I am well connected, and can enjoy special treats. And this was definitely one of them.

The all new Benelli Lupo rifle has reached our market here in the North, and I was thrilled to finally get to shoot this gun. It was available at cal. .308 Win and .30-06 Spr - they are both the most typical calibers here, even if the 6,5 Creedmore is also gaining in popularity. Our gun laws do not have an act where the number of guns per person is actually limited, but for each new gun you need to justify; why do you need another .308 Win, or a 12 gauge-shotgun, if you already have one. And for anyone who does not shoot/hunt, it´s  a valid question. HOWEVER. It´s no different than limiting citizen´s right to own cars to just 1, or knives to a one (1) bread knife, chef´s knife, vegetable knife etc. You may have your eyes on the new model with great features, or amazing durability, or stunning looks.. Because all of these - the knives and cars included!! -  can be lethal in the wrong hands. I do support background checks and making sure applicant is a stable, reasonable human being. I like to think I am. 

And as my humble opinion I am happy to report the following about the Benelli Lupo:

• it´s very easy on the eye, smooth, shiny barrel (CRIO & BE.ST coating)
• super smooth bolt action
• 5+1 capacity is with the standard delivery; and I must add, the double-stack box magazine is super easy, and a lot more compact than what I have!
• the importer has thought about us, the customers. A lot of us will hunt with a riflescope, and you - as in a person without a super long face, in concrete terms.. ;) -  cannot see through the scope without a raised cheek pad, which will be included in the regular package
• I am used to the straight-pull bolt action, but I must say, a smooth action such as this Lupo has, I could easily see myself with a regular bolt-action, too! The box magazine works seamlessly, too! 
• I have the .308 Win, but after having tested the Lupo in cal. .30-06 Spr, the latter could just as well be my next choice. Who knows, if the current trend towards 6,5 mm will continue if/when the wildboar population grows.. There have been several sightings and even kills in my neck of the woods, but none at my hunting area, so far. I know I would like to have something powerful, if confronted with a mature male hog, especially if he (too!!) feels threatened..
• as for the scope, I would stick to my Swarovski Z8i - I still cannot find anything better :)
